BCC Baseball Breaks 5-Game Losing Streak

March 9, 2013 - Brevard Community College's baseball team broke a five-game losing streak on Saturday defeating host Miami Dade College 7-6 in 13 innings.

Hunter Denning hit a game-tying double in the ninth inning and had the game-winning run batted in. He was 2-for-5 for the day.

Also for BCC T.J. Glessner went 3-for-6; Matt Harris 3-for-5; Roman Restrepo 2-for-4 and Chris Torres 3-for-6.

The Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference victory improved BCC's record to 3-5 in conference and 11-13-1 overall.

Miami Dade fell to 4-1 and 20-4.

BCC outhit Miami Dade 17-13 but committed three errors to two for Miami Dade.

Chris Gilmore was the winning pitcher.

"The pitchers pitched absolutely flawless," BCC head coach Jeff Tam said. "They pitched ahead in the count through tough situations and commanded the strike zone.

"Offensively we did a great job situationally."

Next up for BCC is three non-conference games. The Titans host the University of St. Francis junior varsity at 7 p.m. Monday at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne Campus and then host Lafleche College at 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
