BCC Improves to 2-0 in Conference With 5-2 Victory Over Indian River State

February 27, 2013 - Brevard Community College's baseball team improved to 10-8-1 overall and 2-0 in the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference with a 5-2 victory at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce on Wednesday.

Indian River dropped to 9-10 and 0-2. BCC defeated Indian River 6-5 in 11 innings on Tuesday in Melbourne.

Kenton Hering was the winning pitcher for BCC on Wednesday and Chris Gilmore recorded the save. Chris Dennis went 2-for-5 for BCC with a triple and a run batted in and Roman Restrepo went 2-for-4 with two doubles.

BCC outhit Indian River 9-8. Indian River committed two errors and BCC one.

"We received well executed pitching, defense and offense," BCC head coach Jeff Tam said. "The guys played a great game. We just need to keep it going."

Next up for BCC is a two-day visit from conference foe Broward College with games at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne Campus at 6 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.
