BCC Baseball Wins a Wild One, 19-15
February 20, 2013 - The Brevard Community College baseball survived on Wednesday. There is no other way to put it.
BCC banged out 22 hits while allowing 17 to record a wild 19-15 victory over host Daytona State College.
BCC improved to 8-6-1 with the victory. Aaron Miller was the winning pitcher. Chris Gilmore got the save. Daytona fell to 7-7-1.
BCC scored 16 runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Chris Dennis was BCC's offensive star going 4-for-7 with a double, triple and eight runs batted in. Chad Searcy went 4-for-6 and David King for 2-for-6 with a home run and three runs batted in.
BCC head coach Jeff Tam took good and bad from the victory.
"The pitchers better be glad the hitters had the day they did because we pitched absolutely horrible," Tam said. "We have a long way to go in a short amount of time.
"We need to learn how to stop the bleeding as a pitching staff as a whole."
BCC next plays a home-and-home with Seminole State, visiting Sanford at 1 p.m. Saturday and hosting Seminole at 1 p.m. Sunday at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne Campus.
BCC then hosts Indian River State College at 6 p.m. Tuesday to begin Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference play.
Admission to BCC home games is free.
