February 2, 2013 - The Brevard Community College baseball team split a doubleheader with Central Florida Community College in Ocala on Saturday.

BCC lost the first game, 2-0 but rallied in extra innings to win the second game 7-5. BCC is 3-3 on the season.

Sophomore Ashton Fronsoe was the hard-luck losing pitcher in the first game. BCC outhit Central Florida four to three but committed three errors to one for Central Florida.

BCC's bats responded in the second game as the Titans rapped out 11 hits to nine for Central Florida. Sophomore and Rockledge High graduate Chris Dennis was 3-for-6 with two doubles including a two-run ground-rule double in the top of the ninth that provided the winning margin.

"Chris Dennis is a stud," BCC head coach Jeff Tam said. "He can flat out play."

Also designated hitter and sophomore David King went 2-for-5 with a home run.

"He hit an absolute bomb," Tam said.

Tam gave special credit to sophomore right-handed pitcher Aaron Miller who got the win in the second game.

"Aaron Miller gave us four innings of just great relief work," Tam said. "He just battled and dominated . . . to keep us in the second game and give us an opportunity to win which is what we did. He pitched great."

Sophomore right-hander James Baggs got the save in the second game.

As for the first game: "We had countless opportunities, stranding runners," Tam said. "It was a tough one. We did not play well."

The split left Central Florida's record at 3-3.

Next up for BCC is a 4 p.m. Wednesday home game against Daytona State College at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne Campus. Admission to BCC home games is free.
