BCC Baseball Team Hits the Road in Search of First Victory

January 28, 2013 - The Brevard Community College baseball team seeks its first victory of the season on Tuesday as it travels to Palatka to play St. Johns River State College at 5 p.m.

St. Johns is 4-0 on the young season.

BCC opened its season on Saturday by dropping both ends of a doubleheader to visiting Florida State College Jacksonville, 5-0 and 4-3.

BCC head coach Jeff Tam is hoping his players put Saturday behind them and focus on the task at hand.

"You need a short memory in baseball," said Tam. "At bats cannot carry over from one to another let alone from game to game. Neither can bad plays in the field.

"Tuesday is a new day and our players need to approach it that way."

Tam will send redshirt sophomore left-hander Danny Dixon to the mound while at the same time hoping the Titans offense can click after being limited to eight hits in Saturday's doubleheader.

"It's early," Tam said. "But at the same time we cannot fall into bad habits at the plate. We need to be aggressive but we also need to be smart."

BCC also travels to Jacksonville this week for a 4 p.m. Friday game against FSCJ and then to Central Florida Community College in Ocala for a noon Saturday doubleheader.

BCC's next home game at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne Campus is 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, against Daytona State College.
