EFSC’s Financial Aid team wants to ensure you successfully navigate the financial aid process. Review our quick guide to Getting it Right the First Time and avoid problems and glitches that can hold up your money.
APPLY EARLY: Completing your FAFSA correctly and getting it in early directly affects the amount and types of financial assistance you receive.
DO NOT ESTIMATE: Take your financial information directly from your completed tax returns.
PRINT/SAVE COPIES: of your completed application for your records. Once you have submitted your annual income tax return to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), you can request a Tax Return Transcript, free of charge from the IRS at www.irs.gov. If selected for verification, we will require a copy of your tax return transcript.
KEEP GOOD RECORDS: Start a paper or electronic folder for photocopies or scans of your financial aid forms, tax returns and correspondence. Keep a log of the dates you mail forms and other documentation.
READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY: Incorrectly completing your FAFSA will delay your financial aid and may cause you to be selected for the verification process.
Provide up-to-date academic records, a High School Transcript when required and be sure to Declare a Major by contacting the Office of Admissions and Records for help and advising.
Enroll in an eligible program. Most vocational programs less than a year in duration, or less than 900 clock hours, and open entry/exit programs are not fundable through financial aid.
Arrange for placement testing appropriate to your course of study.
Minimum Standards of Satisfactory Progress must have been achieved the last time you were enrolled, including transfer credit from other institutions.
Respond Quickly to all requests from our office.
