For Faculty: Migrating Your ANGEL Courses to Canvas

March 11, 2015 - ANGEL courses will not be migrated automatically into Canvas, this must be done by the instructor of the course.

This process is covered in Canvas Instructor Training (CIT) Module 1. Here is an awesome video that walks you through the process of importing an ANGEL course into Canvas

LOR - Items in the ANGEL LOR that are LINKED in your courses will not carry over when migrating your courses to Canvas. All LOR items that are LINKED will need to be COPIED in your courses before migrating. If you currently use the LOR heavily in ANGEL, please be aware that you should give yourself plenty of time to make the adjustments in ANGEL before converting the courses to Canvas. NOTE: There is no equivalent of the ANGEL LOR in Canvas, and each Canvas course has a limit of 500 MB of space.

Publisher Content - If you use publisher content in your course, you may want to consider contacting your publisher sooner rather than later to make sure that their content packages are compatible with Canvas. We are receiving a few reports from instructors who use publisher content heavily in their courses who are experiencing issues when converting their course from ANGEL to Canvas. Unfortunately, if the publisher content is the cause, there is not much the Academic Technology department can do to help in this case. Your publisher however, should be able to help you resolve any issues in converting your course to Canvas, just be sure to give yourself plenty of time to make any necessary adjustments.
