The Security Officer Class D License is regulated by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. State eligibility requirements exist for the licensure, which you can view online.
The State of Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Licensing has a 40-HOUR educational requirement for the Security Officer Class D (Unarmed) License, consisting of two courses: the 24-Hour Pre-Licensing Course and the 16-Hour Renewal Course. Both courses are offered back to back, and must be taken concurrently if you are applying for the first time or you are renewing your license.
Upon successful completion of the course, students may apply to the State of Florida for the Security Officer Class D (Unarmed) License. Students will learn the fundamentals of security such as legal issues, crime and accident prevention, basic emergency first aid, ethics and professional conduct, patrol techniques, observation techniques and report writing, interviewing techniques, fire detection and suppression, emergency procedures and terrorism awareness.
