Veterinary Technician Certification Information

The Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) is administered by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards and scores are sent to the two credentialing bodies in Florida:

  • Florida Veterinary Medical Association*
  • Florida Veterinary Technician Association

Graduates will make application for certification to the Association of their choosing. See the AAVSB website for testing information and dates.

Renewal of current certification is required every two years with proof of 15 hours of continuing education.

*The FVMA also requires successful completion of the Florida Practical Exam (FPE) for certification. The FPE for the certification in Florida is administered by the Veterinary Technician Certification Committee of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association.
