Dental Assisting Technology & Management

Effective Fall 2015:  
In order to apply for this A.S. degree program, you must first complete a one-year Dental Assisting program that is accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation and meet standards recommended by the Florida Board of Dentistry.  

  • Graduates of ADA accredited Dental Assisting Applied Technology Diploma (ATD) programs or Post Secondary Adult Vocational (PSAV) will be awarded up to 50 college credits toward the A.S. degree, if courses were completed within the last 3 years of the A.S. degree start.
  • Cumulative grade point average in the Dental Assisting program must be 2.5 or higher.

*Transcripts from the previous one-year dental assisting program will be evaluated for transfer of credits into the A.S. degree program.*

You may begin this A.S. degree in any semester:  fall, spring or summer. Each degree option contains courses that may be completed online or in the traditional classroom setting. You will graduate from this program once all course requirements have been met.

Application Procedure

Apply for General Admission to EFSC

Complete the application for admission to Eastern Florida State College prior to program application deadline. There is a $30 non-refundable application fee for admission that must be submitted at the time of application to the college. This application is available on any of the campuses or it's easiest to apply online.

NOTE: You must only apply to EFSC for general admission if you are not currently enrolled with the College. If you’re a returning/readmit student who applied to EFSC one or more years ago and have not completed a course in the past year, you must re-apply and can do so online and will not be charged the general EFSC application fee.

Complete online Dental Assisting Technology and Management Application

Complete the online Application for the Dental Assisting Technology and Management program by clicking here to access the application. There is a $25 non-refundable fee for this application. This fee must be paid to the cashier's office.

NOTE: EFSC Dental Assisting Students/Graduates ONLY -  Currently enrolled students, or graduates within the last 3 years DO NOT have to complete an application to the program. It is recommended to meet with a Health Science Advisor to review qualifications for the AS degree.

Submit Transcripts

Submit offical transcripts. One copy of each and every college transcript or vocational program transcript must be sent to ONE OF THE ADMISSION OFFICES LISTED BELOW:

Transfer students: Request all previous attended colleges to send a final, official copy of college transcripts to the EFSC Admission's Office. These transcripts must be received and evaluated by the application deadline. Please note that EFSC will not evaluate transcripts if courses are still in progress at your previous institution. Additionally, if you are listed as "non-degree seeking" at EFSC, request the Admissions office to indicate your minor as "the program you are applying for" so that transcripts will be evaluated accordingly.

NOTE: EFSC Dental Assisting Students/ Graduates ONLY - Currently enrolled students, or graduates within the last 3 years, DO NOT have to submit transcripts to show completion of Dental courses; however, it is recommended to meet with a Health Science Advisor to review your courses.

Take Placement Testing

You must be college-level in all areas - Reading, Math and Language. First Time In College Students - Take the Reading, Numerical Skills, and Basic Language Sections of the College Placement Test (CPT) test. Information concerning test dates is available at your local Admissions office.
