Explore a CT certificate
Thank you for your interest in the Computed Tomography (CT) certificate. This online e-Learning program is a convenient way for professionals to expand their skills to perform CT scans. The Advanced Technical Certificate curriculum is offered to candidates currently certified by the:
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in the fields of Radiography, Radiation Therapy, or Nuclear Medicine Technology, -OR-
- Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) in the field of Nuclear Medicine Technology, -OR-
- Radiography graduates who are eligible for certification.
EFSC Radiography Technology Program Exception: Current EFSC Radiography students, who are expected to graduate Spring Term (May), are eligible to submit an application to the CT and MRI programs by the application deadline. Program acceptance for current Radiography students is “contingent,” based on seats available AND proof of ARRT certification and state licensure received by August 1. All applicants with current certification and licensure by the application deadline will be given priority acceptance.

The CT and MRI programs do not need programmatic accreditation. They will be SACS accredited.
Students are required to complete a total of 24 clinical education hours per week during both semesters. Students have two options available to achieve this goal.
1. Students who need clinical placement can utilize one of our clinical affiliates located throughout Brevard County. It will be the responsibility of each student to travel to his or her assigned site.
A clinical requirement of 24 hours per week is mandatory for the duration of the CT program, totaling 768 hours. Standard clinical hours are three, eight hour first shifts, usually scheduled Monday through Friday. You must be able to attend clinical during these hours as “special/custom/unique” shifts are not guaranteed.
2. Students who are already working or cross-training in CT have the option of using their current employment as clinical hours. You may use your current employment within the modality as your clinical hours by providing written assestation from your supervisor that you currently work at least 24 hours per week in the advanced modality in which you are enrolling into.
Whether clinical placement is needed or not, the Clinical Placement Request Form is a mandatory part of each student’s application.

is to meet the needs of the students by offering quality online instruction which
will enable the student to succeed as an advanced modality technologist.
Goal 1: Work cooperatively

Goal 2: Think critically and solve problems
• The student accurately prescribe protocols to achieve the high quality diagnostic images.
• The student demonstrates the critical thinking abilities to adapt to a variety of patient situations.
• The student properly interprets the requisition/prescription and ultimately performs the appropriate exam for the patient.
• The student assesses the patient’s preparedness for contrast studies prior to start of examination.

• The student values diversity and cultural competence.
• The student performs all procedures with utmost safety and proper radiation protection for self, patient and others.

• The students, when dealing with patients, demonstrate empathy and provides appropriate comfort.
Goal 6: Clinical competence in procedures
• The student will log all examinations online through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• The student will demonstrate the ability to adapt to a variety of patient situations.
• The student produces quality examinations.
Goal 7: Patient safety
• The student in performing the examination will demonstrate appropriate patient care and management.
• The student in performing the examination will demonstrate proper safety and radiation protection for patient, self and others.
The CT programs begin once each academic year starting in the fall and continuing through the spring. Each student will complete two full semesters of concurrent clinical and didactic coursework. Students who successfully complete the program will be awarded a college level Advanced Technical Certificate. Upon completion of all required clinical competences set forth by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), graduates will be eligible to take post primary certification registries in the modality in which their examination log reflects (CT).
