The Career Field of Computer Programming & Analysis

A computer programmer codes instructions using a conventional programming language and designs a logical series of instructions that the computer can follow. Team work is required with other programmers when working on large projects. Programmers also perform editing tasks by updating, repairing, modifying and expanding existing programs.

Entry level programmers work with other programmers and run tests on programs to ensure that all instructions are correct and that the programs produce desired outcomes.

Software developers create computer programs and develop applications that people use to complete specific tasks on computers or other devices such as cell phones or tablets.
