Can I drop off my essay to be looked at?

The nature of tutoring requires interaction between the writer and tutor. Essays cannot be dropped off, but we welcome drop ins!

Do I need a tutoring appointment?

Appointments aren't needed for math, science or writing tutoring at the Palm Bay Learning Lab. Appointments may be scheduled for writing tutors, but drop-ins are also welcome. Making an appointment insures that you can see a tutor at a specific time.

How long are tutoring sessions?

Tutors do not set a time limit on sessions, except for writing appointments. Appointment sessions may be limited to 45 minutes. Some sessions may be group sessions, when, for example, more than one person wants to work on chemistry homework or a specific math problem.

Could a tutor look over a non-class writing, like a resume or scholarship essay?

Yes! As long as you are taking classes at EFSC, writing tutors will review resumes or scholarship essays with you.

How can I get an essay reviewed when I can't get to the lab?

Turn it in to the Online Writing Lab! This is a free service offered by the Palm Bay writing tutors. Submissions are returned usually within 24 hours Monday through Thursday morning. Submissions posted after Thursday morning are reviewed Mondays.

If you wish to have a paper reviewed during the weekend, try the Smarthinking Online Tutoring System. This is another free service provided by the college. Smarthinking tutors are available throughout the week; some live tutoring is provided online.
