Assistant Professor of Theatre
Jeanine Henry served at Eastern Florida State College from 1996-1998 and returned in 2007. She was appointed Director of Theatre Arts in 2009 and is now an Assistant Professor.
She grew up in Athens, Georgia, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from Agnes Scott College. Upon graduation, she worked professionally with various Atlanta theatres including Alliance Theatre, Horizon Theatre and Theatrical Outfit.
Henry earned a Master of Arts degree from Florida State University where she focused on directing and gender studies. Her master’s thesis explored gender issues in the plays of nineteenth century British novelist and playwright Catherine Gore.
Henry has served as casting director and production assistant to PGT Entertainment, a provider of production revues to a variety of venues, but particularly the cruise ship industry. In this capacity she conducted audition tours in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and London. She facilitated productions for such cruise lines as Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Cunard and Princess Cruises.
She has worked in theatre for youth as Director of the Rising Stars Theatre at the Titusville Playhouse and artist in residency at area elementary schools.
She is co-author of "The Emperor’s New Clothes", published by Dramatic Publishing.
Henry is a certified instructor of the Michael Chekhov Technique having earned her certification through the National Michael Chekhov Association. She is also an active member of the American Alliance for Theatre Education, Southeastern Theatre Conference, and Florida Theatre Conference. She is currently the State Advisor for the Theatre Division of the Florida College System Activities Association.
